The Photo Booth

Photo contributed by Ellie Goetz

Photo booths have always been popular and I like to think that they always will be. The charm of a photo booth lies in the instantaneous aspect of capturing a cute moment and the production of a wholesome collection of pictures. With there being a multitude of hidden gems around NYC, my friend Caroline and I recently sought to find the perfect photo-booth photo-op. Although there is a booth just a block away from our apartment at Arthur Avenue’s Clinton Hall, Care and I ventured into Manhattan to look for a “Booth by Bryant” dupe. With NYC being a hub for fashion, tourism, nightlife, and the arts, we were not disappointed. The Smith Hotel, UNIQLO Fifth Ave, and Goldie’s were among some notable booths–but didn’t quite live up to the glamorous, picturesque vision we had in mind.

We found our prize and joy in the lobby of the Ace Hotel; this 1950s-style booth was so much fun. We both paid for our own strips and enjoyed the experience tremendously. The lobby itself was remarkable, being as lively as ever on a Tuesday night. Filled with music, drinks, positive vibes, and good conversations, the hotel played a tremendous part in making our photoshoot enjoyable. Care and I made a night out of it. We used our photobooth hunt as an opportunity to dress to the nines, develop alter-ego personas, and have a much-needed girls' night. Overall, if you’re looking for something cheap and fun to do with a friend or significant other, I would highly recommend stopping by the Ace Hotel for a picture or two.
