The Man Who Taught Me How to Dress: André Leon Tally
For the first time in its history, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute will feature an exhibit exclusive to men's fashion, but more importantly, it will focus on Black men's fashion. There is no voice more prominent in Black men’s fashion than that of the late André Leon Talley. Talley was a young African American man who broke into the all-white world of fashion in the 1970s, and served as the first black creative director of American Vogue. The magnetism of Talley’s persona made him a cult classic amongst those in fashion’s inner circle.
Pre Margiela: Decoding the Interminable Journey of the Tabi Shoe
While searching through my mother's shoes for the perfect pair of heels to bring to my first semester of college, I stumbled upon an unusual sandal. This Nike rubber shoe was unique from regular sports sandals in that it featured a split toe from the tip to the mid-center of the toe-box. This sport sandal, The Nike Air Rift Breathe, found its inspiration from one of the most controversial trends, ‘The Tabi Shoe’.
The Photo Booth
Photo booths have always been popular and I like to think that they always will be. The charm of a photo booth lies in the instantaneous aspect of capturing a cute moment and the production of a wholesome collection of pictures. With there being a multitude of hidden gems around NYC, my friend Caroline and I recently sought to find the perfect photo-booth photo-op.
